It's a sad day for bored travelers and fans of pointless gadgetry. The beloved in-flight catalog SkyMall could soon disappear from seat back pockets everywhere.
The company behind SkyMall, Xhibit Corp., filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection Thursday according to a report from The Wall Street Journal. The company's chief executive Scott Wiley attributed the filing to an increase in on-board Internet access.
SkyMall says roughly 90 percent of all domestic travelers have laid eyes on a a copy of the catalog. But if you haven't had the pleasure of flipping through the pages of one of these delightful time-wasters, you have definitely missed out. Each catalog is stocked with a treasure trove of odd, potentially useful products from circulation improving leg wraps to a Justin Bieber toothbrush/toothpaste travel kit.
So now in memory of that beloved, albeit occasionally bizarre, collection of goods here’s some of the strangest stuff sold in SkyMall catalogs.
