Omnicom Group Sees 2 Percent Net Income Growth in Q1

Omnicom Group eked out a net income gain of 2 percent in the first quarter, despite a revenue decline.

Quarterly revenue totaled $3.46 billion, down 1 percent from $3.5 billion in the same period last year. On a regional basis, the U.S. produced a solid 5 percent gain in revenue, but internationally, the figure declined more than 7 percent, according to Omnicom.

Still, net income for the quarter climbed from $202.4 million in 2014 to $206.3 million this year. On a per share basis, net income was 83 cents, up from 77 cents in Q1 2014.

Organic revenue also grew more than 5 percent, after a similar gain in the last quarter of 2014. Driving that organic growth were the Africa and the Middle East region (up nearly 11 percent), the U.K. (up 9 percent), the Asia-Pacific region (up 7 percent) and North America (up 5 percent). The gains were more modest in Latin America and other parts of Europe: each grew about 3 percent.
