Nike’s subsidiary company Converse recently launched a remarkable ad campaign for their 98 year-old Chuck Taylors brand. The campaign emphasizes on custom designed sneakers by global artist, musician, and celebrities captured through massive art installations, virtual reality experience opportunities, murals, and customary advertising space.
The goal of the campaign is to celebrate the brand, and accentuate not only how each shoe is different, but also how unique the individuals wearing them are. Everyone has their own exclusive story and the ‘Made By You’ campaign sheds a bit of light onto how Chuck Taylors can be used to express that. Designs range from metallic spike embroidered high tops, to hand-drawn designs and paint splattered low tops.

Advertising strategies that have the ability to touch the target audience both visually and personally have the highest, most effective campaigns. ‘Made By You’ features over 200 creative designs in an effort to encourage consumers to participate in the campaign and share their own Chuck Taylor designs on social media or with their friends. The brand has recently experienced a resurgence in the past year and aims to celebrate the accomplishment by appreciating consumers all over the world, showcasing their work.
New York City’s Filtration District hosts the campaign’s virtual exhibit where viewers can “step into” the shoes of Ron English, Joanna DeLane, King Tuff, and Thomas Midlane. Bushwick, Brooklyn also features a large, hand painted canvas located to the left of the Morgan Avenue Bogart Street station.
